Tampere region
Tampere is the third-largest city in Finland, with over 230,000 inhabitants. Tampere is home to approximately 10,600 foreigners, who make up 4.6 % of the total population. Additionally, 7.4% of residents speak a language other than Finnish as their native tongue.
Tampere region (Pirkanmaa) comprises 23 cities and municipalities, with a total of 532 671 inhabitants (in 2022).

Education in Tampere region
There are 34 upper secondary schools in the Tampere region.
Tampere Vocational College Tredu, with 13 campuses across the area, is the most popular secondary-level college in the region. In addition, seven educational institutions provide vocational education within Tampere itself, while a total of 18 institutions operate throughout the Tampere region.
The higher education institutions in the Tampere region include Tampere University, Tampere University of Applied Sciences, and Häme University of Applied Sciences.
Youth in Tampere region
The youth unemployment rate (ages 18–24) in Tampere was 10.3% in 2023, compared to 10.8% in the Tampere region. In 2022, 11.1% of young people in Tampere were not in employment, education, or training, nor engaged in military service (NEET).
