Newsletter & Project Updates (EDU-LAB Project)

1. Introduction

The protection and security of your personal data is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, process, and use your data when you subscribe to the EDU-LAB Project newsletter and project updates.
The EDU-LAB Project is a Horizon Europe collaborative project (Grant Agreement #101177428) running from 2025–2027.

This Privacy Policy is provided in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the Austrian Data Protection Regulation (DSGVO), and the Austrian Data Protection Act (DSG).

2. Who We Are

The newsletter and project updates are managed by:

3. What Data We Collect

When you sign up for our newsletter and/or project updates, we collect the following personal data:

  • Your email address (required)

  • Your communication preferences (whether you wish to receive the newsletter, project updates, or both)

No additional personal data (such as name, address, or organization) is required unless explicitly provided by you.

4. Purpose of Processing

We process your personal data exclusively for the following purposes:

  • To send you the EDU-LAB Project newsletter (typically monthly)

  • To send you project updates, including information on events, workshops, research results, and calls for participation (as selected by you)

  • To comply with our obligations under the Horizon Europe programme and related project dissemination activities.

5. Legal Basis

Your personal data is processed on the basis of:

  • Your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you provide by subscribing and confirming your email (double opt-in).
    You may withdraw your consent at any time by using the unsubscribe link in our emails or by contacting us directly.

6. Data Storage and Retention

Your data will be stored securely on our servers (using Keila, a self-hosted email newsletter platform operated by Economica Institute).
We retain your email address only as long as:

  • You remain subscribed, or

  • Until the conclusion of the EDU-LAB Project (31 December 2027), whichever comes first.

After this date, your data will be deleted unless you explicitly opt to continue receiving communications beyond the project period.

7. Who Has Access to Your Data

  • Your personal data is accessible only to authorized staff of the Economica Institute for Economic Research and EDU-LAB Project partners, for the purposes described above.

  • Your data will not be sold, transferred, or shared with third parties unrelated to the project, unless required by law.

8. How You Can Control Your Data

You have the right to:

  • Request access to the data we hold about you

  • Request correction or deletion of your data

  • Withdraw your consent at any time (unsubscribe)

  • Lodge a complaint with the Austrian Data Protection Authority (DSB) if you believe your rights have been violated.

9. Double Opt-In Confirmation

For security and compliance reasons, we use a double opt-in process.
After submitting your subscription, you will receive an email asking you to confirm your subscription.
Only after confirmation will your data be stored and used for communications.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the EDU-LAB Project or legal requirements.
